So Florence Welch drop kicked basically every single person at the MTV Video Music Awards last night. Her Givenchy haute couture gown wasn’t enough. She had to pull a Britney Oops! I Did It Again sans lip-synching moment with her overhead choreography and it was fantastic. I don’t doubt that the other musicians were reeling with self-insufficiency afterward. I’m happy that she’s finally getting noticed and also devastated that I don’t have tickets to her Terminal 5 show here in November. How will I cope?
Surely not by listening to her overrated “You’ve Got the Love” remix by The Xx which is… let’s not even go there. Here are a couple of standout tracks–not featured on Lungs, the current album–from this ginger goddess:
Florence + the Machine – Swimming
Florence + the Machine – Throwing Bricks

That is the best quality version of Throwing Bricks I have ever heard.
Also, I quite like The xx, but their cover of You’ve Got the Love is horrific! Especially compared to the original.
Also, Swimming was rleased on Lungs, but only the deluxe version. I have it
This version is great, isn’t it? I just stumbled across it one day.
And yes, I agree about that Xx cover. Cringe.
I think it sounds better in the video, but I’m glad that there is finally a downloadable version of this song. Now I can add it to Spotify
Very true! Makes a chngae to see someone spell it out like that.
