Six Scents

Video: Azuma Makoto & Alessandro Tinelli

Annually, a group of six prominent artists are selected to create a series of six fragrances with six celebrated perfumers in order to raise awareness and funding for a deserving charity. Collectively, diverse members of the creative world are invited to contribute and a global initiative is launched. The goal is to trigger momentum around each cause through creativity with a conscience.

Six Scents: Series Two
In collaboration with Givaudan, Six Scents Series Two explores the relationship between artist and nature through a collection of fragrances, stories, films, art and photography. Each experience intends to instigate the desire to preserve the environment of Six Scents so that others can continue to be inspired by the beauty, power and intrigue of nature. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Pro-Natura in support of their environmental sustainability programs.

My first Malin + Goetz purchase!

Malin + Goetz Grapefruit Face Cleanser & Peppermint Hair Shampoo

On one of my ventures into the outdoors—this time it was to the stores at Caesar’s Palace for Christmas shopping—I had a bit of a freak-out moment at Scoop NYC when I spotted the rack of Malin + Goetz skincare products and candles! I’ve had this weird obsession with the brand for more than a year now. Weird only because I’ve never actually tried their products or put the effort into ordering them and yet know about almost everything they offer. So, obviously I had to grab a couple to take for a test drive!

I grabbed the facewash and the shampoo and they were both so amazing! The cleanser feels very mild and a little goes a very long way. The grapefruit scent is incredible. The shampoo is just tingly heaven 24/7. Maybe I’m coming into it with some bias but honestly I thought they both were really great. They hype was definitely worth it. The scents are refreshing and the package design is just so beautiful I’d be lying if I said that it wasn’t the main reason I was drawn to the brand in the first place.

Scoop NYC also had the bergamot bodywash, the cilantro conditioner, the vitamin E moisturizer as well as the aforementioned candles. My sister offered to buy the rest for me so I’m thanking my lucky stars right now. Just thinking about all this scented goodness in my bathroom is so exciting!! However, I may have to buy doubles before I leave because they don’t have these anywhere in Hawaii and I’ve already decided that I’m going to swear by the facewash. Also, the lipbalm is amazing, unscented, syrupy goodness.

The racks at Scoop also deserve another look because I ignored most of them on my mad dash to the skincare section. I happened to spot a large selection of Shipley and Halmos that I can’t afford but I think I can convince myself otherwise!

Question: What do you think the best scented candle purchase would be? I’m so torn.

Celebrate Kaimuki

The Celebrate Kaimuki festival was this weekend and I was able to attend the tail-end of the event which began at 9 a.m. and ended at 3 p.m. Kaimuki’s small businesses set up kiosks along the road and everyone was free to attend and look around.

The yearly event takes place on a closed-off portion of Waialae Avenue as well as the nearby community park and school playground. It’s such a quirkly little gathering which for me emphasizes the small-town atmosphere that Kaimuki still manages to maintain. I love this little town!

Not gonna lie, the main reason I attend this event is because of the food. This year I grabbed some yummy lo-mein and cha siu baau from the Happy Days stand. Perfection. Also, my package from ASOS finally came in that day, with that £3 checkerboard straw trilby among the contents. Such a steal with so much Lanvin S/S 09 customizing possibility.

Summertime clothes (accessories!)

I have discovered the Holy Grail of every Spring/Summer from now until eternity and it’s called Kenzo accessories. As I’ve said before, the Spring/Summer 2010 collection was beautiful/sumptuous/etc but now that I’ve had the chance to see the accessories in all their so-hq-I-can-feel-them-on-me quality, I’m quite positive that this is one of my favorite Spring/Summer collections ever in terms of menswear.

These are not even all of them! The things I would do for all of this. I don’t even…

Thanks goes out to David for allowing me access to these press photos!
